A friend recently complained that his computer is taking forever to load his often used software. And when his programs are finally running, its processes are usually very slow that he has to close one or two of the programs just to be able to keep in pace with his work. This is not a good thing for him since he loves to do multiples task and as a multimedia artist, he needs more than two programs running simultaneously. Since he is not a computer technician, he sent his PC to a specialist to have it checked and the verdict? A jumbled registry.

If you still not familiar with it, the registry can be likened to a very large database of all of the files that are currently being used by your computer. It also includes the actions or processes that you utilize on your PC whenever you do certain tasks such as surfing the World Wide Web, typing numbers in a spreadsheet, or cropping a picture with your favorite image manipulation program. All of these require processes and system resources and these are all recorded in that huge database which is called the registry.

So what did the technician do to my friend's computer? He ran a registry cleaner which is a computer program whose main job is to clean up the files and records within the registry. And the technician was right because the computer soon worked perfectly smooth afterward.

Just keep in mind that unless you have a super machine, most computers can only handle a certain number of programs running at the same time. Keep your opened programs at a minimum as much as possible to lessen the activities registered in your registry. And of course, use a registry cleaner every once in a while. It always pays to conduct a preventive maintenance to keep your system running without a glitch.
